Tsitsernakaberd serves as the most important memorial complex dedicated to the victims of the Armenian Genocide of 1915. Built in 1967, in Armenia’s Capital - Yerevan, people from all around the world gather to commemorate the victims of the Genocide often laying fresh flowers in the central monument. The central mass of the monument features twelve slabs arranged in a circle representing the twelve lost provinces, now in present-day Turkey. Descending down within the hearth is an eternal flame dedicated to the 1.5 million Armenians killed during the Genocide. A 44-metre tall stele features a large, intentional void, representing the rebirth of Armenians around the world. Along the main approach is a 100-metre wall with the names of towns and villages that the massacres and deportations had taken place.

The plan drawing depicts the memorial complex, highlighting the three main components.
