Amberd

Amberd (Fortress in the Clouds) is a 16,000 sf fortress built in the 10^th Century, in the Aragatsotn province of Armenia. Built from basalt rock, the once three-storey castle featured several towers that were designed on an incline to fend off invaders, several reception and private rooms, and a complex underground network of water aqueducts.

The elevation drawing depicts Amberd after its excavation in 1965.
